Welcome, Oh Fantastically Curious One!
I hope you enjoy perusing my one-stop-shop Jane of all trades look-book of a website. As you will see, I freakin love words + visuals. Hence, why I love screenwriting, photography and web design. I love playing with them like puzzles, because the whole “either, or” thing has never worked well for me #masterjuggler.
I am a writer of almost all of the things- poetry, spoken word, blog posts, speeches, screenplays and journalism. It all started with journaling, the gateway drug. Even before I had vocabulary, I would scribble pretend cursive in a notebook to mimic my mother’s pages. They looked like beautiful recovered letters from a world lost. I love the idea of understanding by extraction and documenting to preserve. Moving all over tarnation too many times, horses I couldn’t have, divorcing parents, curly hair I hated. Writing it all down magically zapped the taboo and the doomsday.
Before I knew it, my poems were earning accolades, I was honing my creative craft at Kenyon and my journalistic craft at Georgetown, and then I was asked to give a speech at my college graduation. I have since supported communications for several organizations in Washington, DC, such as the National Partnership for Women and Families, Alliance for Justice, Washington College of Law Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
As an expat who was born in Ohio but raised everywhere/nowhere, I’m no stranger to change or the strange. I lived in Poland just after the fall of the Berlin Wall and communism, when the Russian and Italian mafia swooped in to claim turf. I also lived in Japan up the street from the head of the Yakuza, and in northern Italy. Despite my nomadic upbringing, I’ve also been riding horses since I was four years old.
Here’s to living a life full of juju + good material.
Stay tuned + curious, Loves.
